[alfa] Spider Leaks

Here are the common spots for the type of water leaks that you describe:

1.	Windshield gasket.

a.	This leak will appear to come from the leading inside edge of the
door however it is simply water dripping in from the base of the windshield,
along/behind the dash and becomes a visible leak along the front edge of the
door panel where it is vertical then angles to the wing window angle. This
sounds like your problem

2.	Door seals.

a.	There is a rubber 'gutter' seal at the front of the doors that sits
just below the stainless vent wing window. This gutter seal is designed to
channel the water that runs down the vent wing frame away from the inside of
the door. If these are damaged/missing the resulting water will run down
the vent window frame, into the car and onto the door panel.

3.	Door membrane.

a.	This leak occurs when the waterproof membrane inside the door has
either deteriorated creating leaks or has been removed and not re-installed
by a careless mechanic. This membrane keeps the water that drips down the
door glass and into the door away from the door panel and channels the water
to the bottom inside of the door and out the drain holes. It was designed
this way. However if this membrane is broken or missing the water result in
a warped door panel, water in the map pocket and finally as water on the
carpeted door sill and eventually find it's way into the foot well itself.

4.	Cowl drain tubes

a.	These leaks occur when the drain tubes either become clogged,
deteriorated or 'crimped' by the sharp angle behind the glove box.
b.	If the tube is clogged or crimped shut it will

                                                               i.
Create a pool of water in area around the heater intake and underneath the
panel that the washer fluid nozzles reside on.

                                                             ii. When
the pool of water gets high enough or if you go around a corner the water
enters the heater intake and freely flows through the blower housing and
down into the passenger foot wells.

c.	If the tubes are broken/rotten the water will pass into the tubes,
out the cracks in the tubes and finally drip down into the foot wells.

5.	Conv. Top drains.

a.	Along the inside base of the cloth top is a gutter that has drain
tubes along the front of each side. IF these become clogged or damaged the
water ends up underneath the seats.
