having recently fooled with this on my 74 GTV, i think you're
going to need to be more specific. the first section of the
following talks about the rubber lines, the second about
the hard line.

there is a short hunk of large diameter line between the
tank and the under-trunk filter. there is a short hunk of
large diameter line between the under trunk-filter and
the fool pump. my car is using a NAPA 3299 for the
under-trunk filter now, and i gather that when this change
was made, the line size switched.

from the fool pump, there is a short section of line to a
steel line that runs under the floor. 7.5mm ID works
here (you can get it from some of the digest advertisers,
or from your local bmw dealer.) switch to high pressure
type G FI clamps while you're swapping this.

there are additional short hunks of rubber 7.5mm ID
line in the engine compartment, again, switch to high
pressure clamps.

hard line is a different story, i'm sure that something
suitable can be found from NAPA. they should have
a 5/16" (7.9mm) OD line that would be suitable. in
this case, you might want to switch to 7.9mm ID
rubber lines on either end anyway.

as i said, euro car dealers and some of our mail order
suppliers carry 7.5mm line. 7.9mm line (5/16") is what
most over the counter places carry (autozone, napa,
etc.) 7.9 can be gotten to work with the type G clamps.
the traditional worm type clamps tend to vibrate loose
on 164s, and when i replaced some of the line on my
GTV, i became suspicious of the clamps and switched
to the Type G clamps across the board (Alfas Unlimited
had already switched a bunch of the clamps over to
this type when they had the car two years ago.)

the type G clamps are readily available over the
counter, i can get them from both autozone and
napa around here.
