[alfa] RE: Gunk in oil separator

Thanks Steve,and All.

I fisrt cleaned the separator when I bought the car two years ago. then cleaned it again in the beginning of last summer. I must confess that I cleaned all the hoses except for the oil return one. The Pat Braden book suggests compressed air to clean that one.

I revisited the oil separator because my car seems to be idling a bit rough. I checked everything else including any possible air leaks, and loose grounds.

The presence of gunk in the hose from the separator to the air hose going to the throttle disturbs me. I understand that when the system works normally there is very little gunk in there, smoke, oil, a little condensation should be it. but the presence of semi-solid brown gunk going to the throttle has me perplexed.

I've since disconnected the crankase hose from the oil separator to see if the gunk clears out of the engine.
