Re:[alfa] 91 Spider won't start
Ralph in Houston asks:
<Been trying to get a friends 91 Spider to start.
Engine turns over fine - good volts at battery
No fuel flow - even when flap on AFM opened.
No volts at fuel pump
No spark>
I suggest you look under the carpeted panel in back of the seats, you will
find a row of relays next to the ECU (passenger side, NA cars). The relay next
to the driveshaft tunnel is the fuel pump relay, it is the only one with
pink/white wire leads off the plug. Turn the key on and off, feel the top of
the relay for a distinct click. Replace it (standard Bosch relay) and see if
you don't have fuel flow. Might also be a good time to replace the fuel
filter inline with the pump, under the car.
Also the point made on battery voltage is 100% correct- the Motronic cars want
to have over 12 VDC to fire up and start. Verify you have a good (I mean
GOOD) battery. Let us know how things go!
